Hello!
I’m back with another ‘70s inspired look this week– denim on denim. This outfit is from Next in MacDonagh Junction.
While this shirt has a denim look, it’s actually 100% cotton, meaning it’s lighter and a little easier to wear than denim. This shirt would also look gorgeous over a pair of white skinnies or tucked into a white skirt next spring/summer.
When wearing denim on denim I like to keep the bottom half a little darker than the top. I think it gives balance to the silhouette. I never realised the variety of styles, sizes and lengths that Next have when it comes to jeans. These are the “Skinny Jeans” in dark blue. As many of you know, I’m quite short so the petite suits me really well, however, these are also available in regular, long and extra long. Furthermore, they come in sizes 6 – 26 so there’s literally a size to suit everyone!
The addition of this delicate necklace adds femininity to an otherwise quite masculine look. I thought the hexagon design was quite unusual too; I always think unusual jewellery adds some personality to an outfit.
I am obsessed with gold accessories at the moment, which is probably why I also fell in love with this cute watch too! The leather-look strap is so on-trend and is perfect for this casual, daytime outfit.
Simple tanned accessories look fantastic with denim and a belt is essential to give definition to the waist.
I really liked the tones of the bag, belt and boots together and each of these pieces can easily be styled with other outfits, together or individually.
A good pair of boots is essential for the autumn and winter months. These slouched leather boots are a great buy; they’re both comfortable and versatile – pop them on with jeans or with a dress and tights and they’ll take you right through to spring.
